One of the most influential guitarists of the 20th century, Chuck Berry was pioneer of Rock 'n' Roll. Based around the 12-bar blues and making use of quick rhythm ideas Chuck was able to showcase his incredible lead playing ideas. A master of the Pentatonic and Blues scales he also used repeating licks and double-stops.
Here are two documents I wrote a few years ago for a student. They contain examples showcasing his Rhythm and Lead ideas.
Recommended listening would have to include Johnny B Goode, Roll over Beethoven and No Particular Place to Go.
